About Forlaget Tukan
Forlaget Tukan was established in 2025 and is a sister company to Tukan förlag in Sweden.
Forlaget Tukan is located in Hillerød, where we operate as an independent part of the Tukan Group, in line with the other publishers in the group.
In the Tukan Group, we publish books for both children and adults, as well as for educational use. Today, the group is Sweden’s third largest. In Denmark, we follow our own publishing line – with great inspiration from our Swedish colleagues – and we look forward to soon having lots of wonderful books for children and adults on our shelves.

Lowzon´s Court
The Tukan publishing house has offices on the first floor of the protected and historic Lowzons Gård building, located in the centre of Hillerød.
The building, whose first brick was laid in 1758, has a long and fascinating history – and we are delighted to be able to continue building on this history.
After a major fire destroyed many buildings in Hillerød, the monarch Christian V decided in 1692 to introduce a model for how future buildings in the city should look. The model stipulated that buildings should only be one story high. The first to break with this type of house was a royal official, county administrator Jacob Lowson, who in 1758 acquired the corner plot between Møllestræde and Slotsgade and erected the large, brick-built building here. Making this the first two-story property in Hillerød.

The building is incredibly well preserved and many of the (almost) original features remain: the entrance door with its classic sandstone portal, old street lamps on the building, pull-cord doorbells, the original (and extremely crooked) staircases and the tall, beautiful panelling.

The publication of books aimed at adults is broad and has varied greatly over the years. Some areas that stand out are food and drink, health, travel and geography, popular science, art, and hobbies and crafts. Tukan förlag collaborates with many large foreign publishers and a number of Swedish authors.
Tukan förlag and Bokförlaget Nona are together the third largest publisher in Sweden in the field of general publishing – and the largest independent publisher in this category. The publishing group has its offices in the historic Nobis building in Gothenburg.
And now the toucan has finally landed in Denmark!
